bullseye-arrowData Accuracy

chevron-rightWhat do you mean by data in this context?hashtag

Ah, right. Here we are talking about the data we aggregate / track on lit mags, contests, presses, and so on.

chevron-rightDo any publishers get preferential treatment or pay for more views on Chill Subs?hashtag

Ugh, originally? Brute force. Mostly Karina & Ben adding new mags whenever they had a moment for the first two years. It was a little messy. Now? We have a whole system for adding new folks and a full time data person to boot.

chevron-rightHow often is Chill Subs data updated?hashtag

Constantly. We check listings daily, editors regularly update their own info, and our users help by reporting inaccuracies. It’s a community effort. There are over 4000 listings so we have them audited on a schedule. Submission Call audits happen daily, and full listing audits happen 25 a day.

chevron-rightWho’s responsible for your listings accuracy?hashtag

Well, we have around 1000 editors who manage their listings. And Muskan. Mostly Muskan. She is our data person. All she does is data. All day. Data and bears.

chevron-rightI found incorrect info—how can I report it?hashtag

Each listing page has a “Suggest an Edit” button. Click it, tell us what’s wrong, and we’ll get right on it.

chevron-rightHow can I add a new magazine, press, or contest?hashtag

Sign up through our Editor Portal. Usually approved within 7 days, sometimes quicker if we’ve had coffee—or cocaine! I wonder if the rest of the team will find all of these…

chevron-rightHow can I remove a listing that’s defunct or inactive?hashtag

Hit “Suggest an Edit” on the listing or fill out this formarrow-up-right. We’ll give it a proper funeral.

chevron-rightWhere do your acceptance rates and response times come from?hashtag

chevron-rightCan magazines hide their stats?hashtag

Yep. Editors can hide acceptance rates or response times through their editor portal.arrow-up-right

chevron-rightCan I trust user-generated tracker stats?hashtag

Generally, yes. While user-generated data isn’t perfect, the law of large numbers keeps things reliable. Still, take it with a grain of salt. Like a big grain—like, it wouldn’t kill you if it hit you, but you’d still want to go to the hospital to check for a concussion.

chevron-rightI submitted data—when will it show up on the site?hashtag

Usually within 24–48 hours. Sometimes faster, sometimes slower, depending on workload.

chevron-rightWho owns the content on Chill Subs listings?hashtag

Listings belong to the publications themselves; aggregated stats and site content belong to Chill Subs. Everyone keeps ownership of their original stuff.

chevron-rightCan I reuse or share Chill Subs content and stats?hashtag

Yes, but please credit and link back to us. Sharing is caring, but stealing is schpealing.

chevron-rightWhat exactly is your “Vibe” filter, and how accurate is it?hashtag
